Home renovations trends that are budget friendly
The start of a New Year is when most people begin to think about home renovations and sprucing up the home. According to Pinterest Internal Search Data, January and February are the main months when it comes to planning any future changes you may be thinking of making to your home (March is when it’s time to use that elbow grease).
One of the best things about owning your own home is that you get to make changes that make it feel like it’s truly yours. Whether it’s something like changing all the light fixtures, installing a new backsplash or changing out all the flooring, no matter how big or small it is, it creates a lasting change in the overall feel of the home for years to come.
With inflation still on the rise, and three years of the pandemic already behind us, homeowners are opting for non-discretionary projects instead of optional projects. Homeowners are focusing more on their comfort, joy, necessary upgrades, and how they can make their dollar stretch.
With that in mind, let’s dive into a few home renovations that are predicted to be big on the trend list for 2023, but won’t hurt your budget and will stand the test of time.
The Home Office
With the rise of more and more people working from home - or having a hybrid remote work schedule - we are seeing the home office become a staple of the household. Not everyone has a spare room or a finished basement that they can convert into a home office, so we are seeing sheds, garages, closets, under the stair spaces and laundry rooms being converted into work spaces to save on big home renovation budgets. The best thing you can do to create a home office that allows for optimal work productivity, is to find a space that has 1. Lots of natural light and 2. Great flooring! The natural light will help you keep out of that mid-day work-from-home slump that can easily happen, and great flooring keeps you less distracted. Nothing is worse than feeling an uneven, cold, or creaky floor underneath you when you are trying to work. Here are a few home office ideas to make you feel inspired.
Outdoor Living Space
With more time being spent at home, people are looking to maximize their living space and this includes bringing the home living space out into the outdoors. Now that the weather will begin to warm up, homeowners (and renters) have started to move their renovations outside and into projects like patios, decks and gardens. Some will even have the space and time to create a complete outdoor kitchen. A few things to consider when creating the perfect outdoor space is 1. Functionality and 2. Flooring surface - did you know we do outdoor flooring? Having a great flooring surface is important when it comes to being able to relax/enjoy, as well as host in your outdoor space. Making sure that the surface is even and free of any tripping hazards is important to the overall feel and look of the space. Here are a few of our favourite outdoor living space examples to help get you inspired.
Kitchen & Bathroom Upgrades
Kitchens and bathrooms are high traffic and high use areas of the home - The kitchen being the heart. Small upgrades like a new coat of paint on the walls or cabinets, or new hardware, to big things like new countertops and flooring, can make a difference in these spaces. New flooring is a great option as it adds more life to the room, all the while adding value and longevity (we have great warranties!). Here are some kitchen bathrooms that we find inspirational, and also have excellent flooring!
