Calmtainment

You have probably seen this word floating around and your brain automatically has put two and two together that it is “entertainment” meshed with the word “calm.”

CALM ENTERTAINMENT

It is 2023 and it’s difficult to wrap the brain around the idea that three years ago the pandemic started and everything changed. Now that we have entered into this New Year, it is a good idea to create spaces in your home where you can enjoy this new idea of calm entertainment.

So how do we explore calmtainment in the home? Let’s first think of areas in the home where we feel the most calm. Is it in the bedroom? Maybe the kitchen? Or perhaps in the bathroom? Wherever it is, we want to be sure that you are getting the most out of the calmtainment experience.

The Bedroom

The bedroom should be a sacred space that you have made just your own little sanctuary for peace and rest. We suggest finding, or setting up, a small space on the floor where you can create your own little “calm corner.”

ACTIVITIES: sit to meditate, listen to music, do some deep breathing or engage in some stretching.

FLOORING WE RECOMMEND: Carpet! Not just any carpet, we recommend a high pile carpet for the ultimate in cozy. Take a look at our carpet selection.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home and should be a relaxing place to welcome in guests and enjoy fun banter around the table with family.

ACTIVITIES: Baking, having a glass of wine, enjoying some pizza with a good friend.

FLOORING WE RECOMMEND: There are so many wonderful options for your kitchen, and which one you choose will more than likely be based on your kitchen aesthetic. We suggest getting a great low pile rug to bring warmth and comfort to the kitchen, as well as create some comfort on your feet. Take a look at our area rug selection.

The Bathroom

The bathroom should be a space of deep calm and relaxation. It should be a place to go to unwind at the end of the day, or a place to refresh first thing in the morning.

ACTIVITIES: Having a long bath or enjoying a face mask.

FLOORING WE RECOMMEND: Flooring makes a huge difference in a bathroom’s overall feeling of tranquillity. We opt for ceramic or porcelain tile. Tile flooring is resilient, waterproof, and is available in a variety of colours and designs. Take a look at our tile flooring here.

The Living Room

The living room - the place where families come together, where relaxation is met, and the word “chill” originated from. This is a great place to “live” just as the name of the room says.

ACTIVITIES: Playing a game with friends/family, watching a documentary or making a fort on the floor and taking a nap.

FLOORING WE RECOMMEND: LVP (luxury vinyl plank) has to be our top runner for flooring in the living room. Not only is it beautiful, but it’s comfortable, easy to clean and is waterproof - making it worry free for spills and messy. Check out our LVP flooring here.

Outdoor Living

While there are indoor/outdoor area rugs that you can lay down, there is also more traditional carpeting that you can glue down or install for year-round use.
