APRIL IS PARKINSON’S AWARENESS MONTH

End Of The Roll is proud to support this cause during the month of April. We spoke to our friends at the Parkinson Society and they educated us about this difficult disease. Here is the information they shared:

Parkinson’s disease starts in the brain and worsens over time as the cells that produce dopamine (a chemical that carries signals between nerves) die. Each day, more than 10 people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. By 2031, the Parkinson’s population in Canada will double. Currently there is no cure.

Parkinson Society Canada is the national voice of Canadians living with Parkinson’s disease. Working with a network of regional partners, chapters and support groups, Parkinson Society Canada provides education, support and advocacy on behalf of the many Canadians living with Parkinson’s every day.

Since 1981, Parkinson Society Canada’s National Research Program has invested more than $24 million in funding for more than 425 high quality, innovative Canadian research projects to help unlock the mysteries of Parkinson’s disease.

APRIL IS PARKINSON’S AWARENESS MONTH
April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, dedicated to advocating for people with Parkinson’s disease and their families. April 11th is World Parkinson’s and the birthday of Dr. James Parkinson’s, after whom the disease was named.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
As a locally owned company, End Of The Roll truly cares about the communities we are a part of, and the families that make up those communities. End Of The Roll recognizes that when Parkinson's disease affects one person, it affects the whole family and the community of people around that person. We encourage you to reach out to your local Parkinson's Society this month; click for a list of offices across Canada.

Parkinson SuperWalk is the largest nationwide fundraising event for Parkinson Society Canada (PSC) and its regional partners. About 14,000 people organize and take part in Parkinson SuperWalk from coast-to-coast. This year marks the 25th anniversary of this event.  We encourage people to register, donate or support SuperWalk this September. Visit www.parkinsonsuperwalk.ca and follow @superwalk on Twitter or ParkinsonSuperWalk on Facebook to find out more.

Thanks again to Parkinson Society Canada for the hard work that you do all year long on behalf of families, health professional and researchers in Canada. We are proud to help promote awareness during the month of April!
